Our Sun Safe Accreditation

Hauxton Primary School – Sun Safe Schools Accreditation

We are proud to share that Hauxton Primary School is participating in the Sun Safe Schools national accreditation programme, part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the health and well-being of all our pupils during the school day.

While some sun exposure is beneficial, sun safety is a vital health and safety matter. Children spend a significant amount of time outdoors, particularly in the warmer months. Between 11 am and 3 pm—when the sun’s ultraviolet radiation (UVR) is strongest—children are more at risk of sunburn. Young skin is especially sensitive and can burn easily, leading to cumulative damage and a significantly increased risk of skin cancer later in life.

Skin cancer is the most common and fastest-rising cancer in the UK, but the good news is that around 90% of cases are preventable. With your support, we can take simple but effective steps to keep children safe in the sun and help them build healthy habits for life.
