I have been a teacher since 2012 and the Assistant Headteacher at Hauxton Primary School since 2018. I believe I am fortunate to have a role both in the classroom and as part of the senior leadership team for Hauxton Primary School. As a teacher and senior leader, my aim is to give the children of Hauxton Primary School the best opportunities to develop socially, emotionally and academically and feel that being part of the governing board helps support the success of our school.

As a parent governor, I bring passionate commitment to supporting our school community and ensuring every child receives a high quality education.  Mr background in risk management equips me with skills to identify challenges, make informed decisions and contribute to the schools strategic planning ensuring a safe and thriving environment for all. 

I have experience of being a Preschool Trustee which has also provided hands on experience of governance, financial oversight and fostering educational excellence. 

With a strong understanding of the challenges and aspirations of both parents and students I am dedicated to representing their voices and ensuring all children reach their full potential.

I am Vicar of Harston, Hauxton and Newton Benefice and I moved here in March 2023, having come from looking after 10 rural parishes near Huntingdon. I became a governor of Hauxton Primary School in September 2024 and I am keen to be fully involved in the communities I serve as Vicar. I have a background in Education and I taught English, Drama and Media Studies for 20 years in mainstream secondary schools. I have also been a School Chaplain in a primary and a Secondary School. In my current role, I look after the three churches and their parishes and have responsibility for managing everything that comes with that. In addition, I work for the Diocese of Ely as the Development Officer for Schools’ Mission and have a good understanding of the diversity and rich variety of schools in Cambridgeshire. I have also raised two adopted children, each with Additional Needs so I have a working knowledge of the SEND system and am passionate about each child having full access to education, as well as taking account of their individual needs. I can offer skills in pastoral care, strategic direction and educational development and I enjoy working with the whole Hauxton community.

I am the Headteacher of Great and Little Shelford CE (A) Primary School. I have the pleasure of visiting, inspecting and advising schools through different channels. I hold other roles related to education: SIAMS Inspector and Ely Diocesan Regional Advisor Lead Support. These roles and expertise bring transferable benefits to the schools I serve - most notably, the development of school practice and leadership. Since 2009, I have taught in several other settings, fulfilling a range of Senior Leadership roles: including Acting Headteacher, Head of School and Headteacher. I have worked in two local authorities and in a range of settings - local authority maintained; standalone academy; academy within a trust. Since my childhood, I aspired to teach. I attended the University of Newcastle and read Linguistics. Following this, I studied at the University of Cambridge, completing a PGCE and a Master of Education. Since then, I have devoted my career to creating continuously improving schools with servant leadership, distributed leadership and professional autonomy at the heart of their function.
